Katy Stone
Team Member Since 2025
Katy is a 53-year-old stay-at-home mom to two adult girls (19 and 21) and is married to a pilot who is an avid gravel cyclist. Katy took on her first triathlon at age 40, while her husband was deployed overseas with the Army. She used triathlon as a way to get fit and become part of her community. Originally from Seattle, Katy has a background in competitive synchronized swimming and speed swimming, but she dreamed of doing a triathlon one day. She became a strong runner while enlisted in the Army and then fell in love with cycling after meeting her husband in Michigan. She balanced out homeschooling her kids and triathlon training and went on to do 4 sprit triathlons her first season and quickly fell in love! Her second season she decided to jump into the Olympic distance, and found that to be her favorite, since she loves riding her bike. In 2017 and 2018 she raced at USAT Age Group Nationals Olympic distance and qualified for Team USA and worlds. She took a couple of years off and re-entered the tri scene in 2021, completing her first (and only) 70.3 in Frankfort Michigan. Since 2022 she has completed 8 road triathlons and 6 gravel/off road triathlons, three of which were USAT National Championships where she took the podium and again qualified for Team USA and worlds! Gravel triathlon and gravel bike races are her preferred races. She currently volunteers as an on-bike coach for 906 Adventure Team in Lansing.
2026 GOALS
My goals this year are enjoying USAT Multisport Nationals here in Michigan in May, race the Grand Rapids Triathlon, get a green dot at The Crusher mass start 100+ gravel in the UP, and enjoy a bunch of gravel races around the state.
