Mike is 46 years old and works for Purity Cylinder Gases. He was raised in St. Johns and now happily resides in Dewitt. He’s been married to his supportive wife Katherine for 19 years, who often serves as his Tri-Sherpa.  Mike has two amazing teenagers - Lilli and Jacob - who keep him busy with their active sports schedules. It makes his heart happy that they share his love of running and swimming. He also has two super awesome dogs - Oscar and Graham. His family jokes that maybe someday they’ll go on a vacation that is not centered around a race. 

Mike did not get into running until after his son was born. What started as a way to get back in shape soon became a lifestyle and passion. Since 2016, Mike has enjoyed competing in several 70.3s, Olympic and Sprint triathlons. He has also completed the Bayshore marathon, as well as several half marathons. Outside of running and triathlons, Mike loves mountain biking and backpacking. He embraces any activity that pushes him to try new things while being outdoors. He was drawn to triathlon by the people he met while learning the sport and still loves the camaraderie of the triathlon community.

2025 GOALS

My goals for this season are to continue biking, swimming, and running to stay fit and maintain my active lifestyle. I have adventures in the Grand Canyon and Isle Royale planned that will challenge me, as well as racing Iceman in the fall. I plan to race a few sprint races this year, and work on getting faster in the shorter distances.
